I used Bing and Ask for my two search engines. I would have to say that Bing yielded much better results on my topic. It gave me information on how eating disorders and genetics are related, how they are affected by one another, and the role of genetics in eating disorders. Ask went from eating disorders to talking about alcohol. I used the terms; eating disorders and genetics, genetic disorders, eating and disorders, and genetics and eating. I actually found very interesting facts about hereditary studies and eating disorders. It takes the reader through twins and different family members and the possibility of inheriting these traits. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3010958/
I seemed to find the same pages from Mamma as I did with Bing so I will incorporate both sites in my findings. Another site I found helpful information on talked about the causes of eating disorders and how genetics might play a role in it. http://www.eatingdisordershelpguide.com/genetics.html. It states that eating disorders have been more common among families so that seems like a good place to start.
The last site that I found helpful dealt with Serotonin. Scientists believe that this may be a contributing factor in genetic relations to eating disorders. This chemical imbalance may be a reason for some people who have certain eating disorders like anorexia. http://www.something-fishy.org/isf/genetics.php
I found this exercise to be helpful, however I did not think we were allowed to use these sources in our papers. If we are, it will make this paper a lot easier.
