Shaw WebMD. "Anorexia and Bulimia: Cracking the Genetic Code." WebMD. WebMD, 2005.
Web. 08 Nov. 2013.
This article is a
credible source for my research because the author has written for WebMD since
1999. Her credentials are that she is a senior writer with the Association of
American Medical Colleges in Washington, D.C. As a freelancer, she has also
written health articles for Ladies' Home Journal and writes regularly for
medical organizations including the American Academy of Neurology. The author’s
main goal in this article is to inform and teach people that anorexia may in
fact be genetically passed down. This article generally targets people who are
afflicted by a certain illness or disorder causing them to look up symptoms and
treatment. They would be interested because they may suffer from any number of
eating disorders and would disagree and agree with the author’s article. The
author incorporates anecdotal, statistical and testimonial evidence on this
topic. This evidence builds credibility because it allows the reader to see the
true expertise of the author but it limits it in a way because of her
conclusion. Based on my opinion, I would agree with this author’s skill set and
evidence but not her conclusion. This article is important to my essay because
of the facts and misconstrued conclusion that happens when you have a closed
mind.
