Exercise 1.5

1. What is the relationship between eating disorders and genetics?

2. A.What are the differences between anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa?
    B. Do members of the same family suffer from the same eating disorders all of the time?
    C. Can children of parents with eating disorders not have them?

I believe that genetics is not a factor in eating disorders. I believe that where you live and your surroundings play a factor, however genes do not. While family members may suffer from the same eating disorders, it is not related to genetics, but the surroundings in which the members are in.

3. All that I am bringing to this project are questions and inquiry's. I tried to think of a subject that I knew the least about. My cousin suffered from an eating disorder, however she received help and now is completely okay. I was thinking that this is a good way to know how to help people with these disorders. I also think that it's good to know about things that are affecting many people today.

  1. Joel, kuddos to you for picking a topic that requires you to learn about it. I agree that the inquiry questions you outlined will help you understand how to interact with and help those who are affected by eating disorders. And because your research essay must include a proposal (how do we address this issue?), you're already thinking in the right direction.
